Posted by AllenCaron on December 5, 2008

The California Energy Commission will consider a second application from privately held Phoenix-based Stirling Energy Systems (http://www.stirlingenergy.com/) for a 850 MW solar installation in the California desert near Mojave. http://earth2tech.com/2008/12/05/massive-stirling-solar-system-seeks-cali-approval/ This follows an earlier permit application, already approved, for a 750MW desert solar installation.   All told the two installations, which would not be completed until about 2013 or 14, would take up about 15,000 acres of land, about half in San Bernardino County and half in Imperial County, which borders Mexico.
